Boston was awesome. I'm working on making a photo album on my flickr page. If you are one of "friends or family" then you can view them now, I'll make a public one soon. I am way exhausted, so I'll try to do some blogging later tonight or tomorrow.
Also, I leave this weekend for Boston. A lot of flying time. I always like buying some new tunes for a long trip. So, you've seen what I have on the left, but I need something new. Any suggestion? Carlos was talking about a band called MuteMath? Let me know what some of your favorite albums have been this year.
I can't believe it. Last night we had college group and I forgot to double-check the TIVO status before I left. Obviously, this is season premiere week and we are recording many of our favs, but also some new ones to see if they are any good. In my journey towards experiencing new things, I didn't set The Office at a high enough priority and instead of recording one of my favorite shows, it recorded some show called Happy Hour, which is a very lame comedy sitcom. So, help me out. What happened? Did Jim get the girl (Pam), did he move, did Michael hook up with the realtor or Jan...or maybe Oscar? Anything could've happened and I am completely out of the loop. I already looked on iTunes and you can't buy the episode yet, so c'mon, help a brother out.
My buddy Daniel showed me this link. If you don't already own, Mockingbird, by Derek Webb, here's your chance. This guy used to be Caedmon's Call and has been hitting the road solo for about 5 or 6 years now. Slight Disclaimer: this is not your typical radio play rock music. I think he likes it that way. Webb is more of word artist like Keith Green used to be. The music doesn't necessarily stand on it's own, but the message that he has to sing about does. He talks a lot about faith, politics, our call to serve, and so on. Hey it's free, so go get it and listen to what he has to say. I don't see U2 giving away their CD's. Think about it. Get the CD HERE.
So, I'm trying out a new editing software. It's no photoshop, actually, it's called Gimp. I'll fool around with it until i get serious enough to bo buy photoshop. Well, this is a photo that I took up at Hume Lake. If you are a photography buff I encourage you to go check out my flickr page and give me some feed back on the "Hume Lake" set. You can find a link to my Flickr down on the left or HERE. I put 15 of the pictures in one of the small photo albums up on the right. I was really trying to frame the shots, working with different apertures and background/foreground images. let me know what you think.
And no, I'm not talking about the weather. I'm not sure when this is actually happenning, but Fresno is getting an Urban Outfitters! I freaking love that store. It won't look like this one (i'm pretty sure this is the San Jose store) because it will be in our Fashion Fair Mall, but nonetheless, I will be going to mall much more often now. Where else can you get Citizens of Humanity jeans, silly-word graphic tee's, a jesus action figure, a comforter, pop culture books, and a belt buckle shaped like a boombox! Now, all we need is a Nordstrom and most importantly a true Mac store.
another great weekend. my parents came over on friday and watched the girls...yeah, both of them. we went out to dinner at yosemite ranch and my assistant's boyfriend hooked me up with some extra crab (thanks carlos!) It was really good, we then went home for a quick feeding of the baby and off to the movies. we saw invincible, the story of vince papale and how he walked on to the philadelphia eagles back in the 70's. It was a really good story and i even shouted and clapped really loud at one point. good flick.
saturday, we all piled in the pilot and drove up to hume lake. we had burgers and fries at the snack shop, then rented a row boat. we took out for awhile, ate some cookies on the water, relaxed, and i got a blister. it was great. we went back to the snack shop, got a real ice cream shake and headed home. that night we took dinner to our good friends steve and mignon because they just recently had a baby. this is getting long and i want to go home so, sunday. church. step-in teacher for our class. eh. sunday afternoon bbq at jacinda's step-brother's apartment. played some lawn golf, baseball with a tennis ball, and sunday night we crashed target for a couple hours. got some new shorts and a t-shirt.
Got my tickets to boston today and my reservations at the Boston Harbor Hotel. looks nice. i'm getting pumped.
My mom just emailed me this quote from Zach Braff. I liked it.
"All of life's high points revolve around love."
For a guy who makes me sneeze pepsi out of my nose every week on Scrubs, that's pretty deep. But, if you watch the show, they always do have a real point to make. It's like watching Dumb and Dumber as an after school special. Definitely one of my favorite shows, but I only have season one on DVD. wink wink!
