Well, I say with bittersweet tone, tonight is our last night leading worship in the college group at Peoples Church. Nearly 10 years ago I joined the group and started playing on the worship team. A couple years later, Jacinda and I became the worship leaders. We have led through 3 different pastors, not including the 2-3 interims that we had, and even through when I co-led the group. I know, scary that they actually let me speak in there. These last 10 years have meant so much to us, and just thinking about all the memories we have created over the years brings tears to my eyes. But, it is time.
We are definitely coming to a new chapter in life. Since being part of the leadership and worship teams of this college group, originally called "Axis", then "The Way", Jacinda and I dated, got married, had Kiara, graduated college, started my career, and had Melania. What a journey that Christ has brought us through. I know that I would not be who I am today if it weren't for the spirtual guidance, friendship, and passion of this group. We are truly blessed.
So, if you're not doing anything tonight at 7pm at Peoples Church in Fresno, you will see the All-stars come back and play with us and to say good-bye to the College Group. Tonight, the players of old will be Jeff Simpson, Curt Johnson, and Daniel Garrison. Jacinda, Nick Betner and I are the present, and our secret weapon...the latin hammer...Rey Alaniz will be hittin the skins. It should be a great time of worship (15 songs!) and remembering what God has done and seeing what He will continue to do in the future of this group.
