My High School choir teacher, Mr. James Foxx, started a blog/website documenting the years that he was a choir teacher. It has pictures, song samples, and memories from all the years he was a teacher. My buddies are going to love this.
You know how you have those blogs that you've been reading for awhile. Sometimes they live across the world, other times they live just a couple miles away, but you've still never met face to face.
Well, I love it when the digital world becomes real. Jacinda and I have communicated through the blogosphere with Eryn for awhile now. A comment here, a comment there. One Sunday she decided to come hang out with us over at River Valley.
She took this picture and emailed to me. Can't wait to meet more bloggers in the "real world".
Saturday we ventured out in search of some cliche Southern style kind of food/places. Our first stop was at a restaurant chain called "The Cracker Barrel". Let me tell you, there were a lot of "crackers" there. I wonder if that's why it's called that? I'm sure they're not all the same, but this one was filled with some back-woods folks. The people watching was better than my hot fudge sundae.
As you can see, Kiara was loving spending time with Uncle Carlos!
We actually started with dessert to just turn things around. We went to the Cracker Barrel more for culture than for the food. Most of it looked like a fried mess anyways. The funniest thing I thought, was a sign when you were walking out that said, "Imagine walking out these doors with a paycheck". HA!
Then we drove through miles and miles of southern mansions and winding roads until we got to Roswell, a really cool little vibey town. We had made reservations at a BBQ place called "Swallow at the Hollow". It is a cool place that's one big room with knotty pine walls and a tin roof. It was pretty good, maybe southern BBQ has more sauce than I'm used to, but seriously, I'd go back for the potato salad and mac n cheese. Holla. Slap your mamma. Booyah! loved it. I was so full I almost keeled over and I didn't even eat a half slab of ribs!
WooHoo! I am so excited right now. Our best friends Carlos and Heather moved to Atlanta (the ATL) about a year ago and although Jacinda has been out there twice to see them, I have yet to see where my friends even live. Such a weird feeling to be so connected through digital means, but to be so far away physically.
I went through the pain-staking process of searching for flights, seeing how many miles it took, calling Marriott to see how my points converted, then going back to the airline only to realize I didn't have enough points, searching the airlines again, changing plans, getting Marriott to transfer the points to American Airlines, waiting for the points to show up, flight I wanted was gone, change plans again, and finally accept the 3.5 hour layover in DFW, but you know what...it's gonna be worth it to see my brother and his family.
we finally got over to the Lebda's tonight to see baby Cooper. Kiara wanted to hold him right away, so we got her all set up. She sat there for probably 10 minutes completely content just sitting with Cooper in her arms. It was just so cute. She's definitely gonna be the babysitter some day!
jacinda and i just got down here in riverside and we're at carlos and heather's old house which is really weird. They live in Atlanta, but a lot of their stuff is still here. Anyway, Jacinda is singing with Los and the guys at some Campus Crusade Conference in San Diego this weekend and through the new year.
practice is over, time to party!
c-ya. I'll try to get some more recent pictures this weekend.
Last Saturday night was my 10 year high school reunion. Yep, I graduated high school 10 years ago. Crazy! So much has happened since then it is pretty amazing. Me and my 8 other friends got voted "best friends" our senior year and we have all remained friends to this day. All except one, Robby, made it for the reunion. Even Chad made it and he lives in Romania! I was dazed for about 45 minutes just seeing all these people that I hadn't laid eyes on in 10 years. Then, I was in it. I just said hi and talked to as many people as I could. I talked to three of my so called "smart" friends and they were: 4th year medical student, investment banker, and lawyer. Take that all you jocks out there! The reunion itself was pretty lame, but hanging with my friends and catching up with new ones was great. I don't know, part of me wishes that I would've saved my $170 and just started a MySpace! Here are some more pics: The wives: Emma, Andrea, Becca, Holly, Kelley, and Jacinda
The whole Group
We have friends over tonight and all the guys were just sitting in our living room flipping thru ondemand features and we just found that comcast has karoake! Next thing you know, several men were belting out the verses to Mr. Brightside by the Killers. I wish I had a video camera for that one.
