I really want to go to the movies. We've been hanging onto some movie passes that we got for Christmas and now that some of the summer blockbusters are coming out, I really want to go.
The new star trek looks good bit I'm not sure if I'll convince Jacinda to go see that one. The last movie we saw in the theater was Bride Wars, so its been awhile.
Anyone seen anything worth seeing in the theater lately?
In an effort to continue cutting costs for our monthly budget, I cancelled Netflix today. We just weren't watching enough movies to justify the $15 and we can go get movies anytime at RedBox for $1.
I watched this movie pretty much by myself because Jacinda was taking a nap right next to me. I hate watching movies by myself. Movies are events to me. They are more fun shared with other people and often more exciting.
I started watching Apocolypto when I was visiting the Whittaker's in ATL. I hadn't had the chance to revisit it but I just finished it and it was pretty awesome. It was almost like watching National Geographic but with a plot. that's it. short post. gotta go watch the super bowl.
Yesterday was kind of weird. My team at work met with a consultant to help make our business more effective. It was actually great. Very insightful and it got me re-focused on some areas that I need to work on. We got done at 3 after a full day, so I went home a bit early. Melania is still sick and Jacinda was hanging out with a friend that night, so I wasn't too excited about my plans for the night.
Kiara ended up going to Maama's for dinner and to work on her "mother's day card". So, since Melania was pretty much out of commission and we didn't really have anything to eat here, we hit the Taco Bell drive-thru. I think the fresh air helped her a bit, but she still barely ate anything. Anyway, I put her to bed and started watching Karate Kid, part 2 that I had recorded.
It's so funny how a movie that seemed so cool, which I had multiple dreams inserting myself in Ralph Maccio's place, can seem so lame now. But, what can I say, I love movies, so, I watched the whole thing. It was actually a nice, relaxing night and ended with me reading some of my Prince Caspian book.

Jacinda and I rented this movie last weekend, and man were we surprised. We really liked it. It's not your typical "The Office" kind of Steve Carrell, but still funny plus some sentiment. It was a real feel good, but depressing movie.
Dan is the single father of three young girls and all that comes with that. Then, after years of being alone since his wife died, he meets someone. The only problem...she's dating his brother (Dane Cook). It's a great story of family, love, and pancakes. Check it out if you haven't already.
Oh, and the whole time I was just loving the songs so I bought the soundtrack. They're all by this Norwegian guy, Sondre Lerche. I'd never heard of him before, but here's a taste:

Jacinda and I just finished watching "Stardust". Neither one us gave it the time of day when it first came out and chalked it up as "cheesy". Well a friend at work whose blog I won't link you to because she keeps changing her address, told me that she had just seen it and really liked it. She said it reminded her of Princess Bride.
Well, it wasn't an instant classic like "my name is indigo montoya, prepare to die" but it was actually really good.
I really liked all the characters. Robert De Niro was hilarious, you loved to hate Michelle Pfeiffer, and the hero of the film was an unassuming young guy who discovers a lot on his journey.
Jacinda and I rented Hairspray last week. I'm always a little slow to pull the trigger on movies like this. I don't know why. Everyone loved it in the theater, but we still didn't go. Something about it, just makes me think it won't be good, but I really liked it.
This guy James Marsden is starting to really turn up in a lot of movies. Lois Lane's husband in Superman Returns (which I own), Prince Edward in Enchanted (which was good too), and now he's going to be in 27 dresses (heard was terrible).

Oh, another movie we recently watched, well I watched, Jacinda slept, was "A Good Year" with Russell Crowe. I don't know if it was my mood or what, but I really enjoyed it.
Yesterday was the start of our Christmas celebrations. I don't have the pictures uploaded yet, so sorry about that, but we went up into the mountains to hang out with Jacinda's Dad's side of the family.
Their house is really cool, lots of room, lots of kids, and lots of young relatives. Jacinda's dad married Annette years ago and our family grew by 10 people. Jacinda's step brother Andy and I are about the same age, but you wouldn't of guessed we were 28 yesterday.
Andy and I shot b.b. guns, went for a joyride in his Barracuda, shot a 9mm into some tree rounds, watched part of zoolander, and I ate way too much guacamole, brownies, and fishy crackers.
Jacinda and I got home after 7 so we put the kids right to bed and cleaned the house because some friends are coming over today. We finally sat in peace and watched, "Rescue Dawn" starring Christian Bale.
That guy is turning into one of my favorite actors with movies like "Batman Begins", "Reign of Fire" and of course, "Newsies", but I didn't care too much for this movie. It seemed more like a documentary, which I guess it was based off a true story, but the hero character just never really did anything that cool. Jacinda and I both stayed awake for the whole thing though, so I'll give it 2.5 out of 5 pieces of rice.
Jacinda is gone at some meeting for our class at church, the girls are in bed, and I'm watching "The Family Man" with Nicholas Cage. It's turning into a classic Christmas movie for me, almost, but not even close to the same league, as It's a Wonderful Life.
ahh, forget it, I'm too tired. I'm just going to crash on the couch and watch my movie.
